Khaite presents the SS24 collection with help from DM Casting! Catherine Holstein produced a dark runway for the New York show and created a spotlight for each model to showcase their look. The models ensembles resemble a delicate feminine with a quiet luxury look. Throughout the show there are different pops of colors such as a cherry red, navy blue, and white. Although the main color palette consists of black, Catherine Holstein wanted to leave space to have “nuance neutrals.” In particular, Diane Chiu was dressed in a black raspberry, cropped, leather jacket with long white trousers which adds great movement when seen in action. To complete the look, lacy open toed heels in the same black raspberry color and large snake skin handbag. The contrast of the models dark hair with the white trousers and jacket makes the models face appear more in the photo and nicely compliments her hair and complexion. There is a chicness and simplicity to the entire collection which allows for the models to give more of a story to the clothes. The timeless nature of the outfits against the dark background almost makes you feel like you’re stuck in a time capsule. Nyaduola Gabriel is dressed in a long, draping white top with a neckline that appears to be asymmetrical as it lifts off her shoulder. The top is paired with black trousers to give additional movement to the ensemble, black-out sunglasses, and long black gloves that add to the classy, chic, and timeless feel of the collection. Nyadualo and the flowing top offers a beautiful color contrast to the overall outfit. Conversely, models such as Yasmin Wijnaldum are dressed in a large trench coat with a more distinctive silhouette. While this notable silhouette has been seen before. In comparison to the more timeless looks in this collection, these unique outlines offer something different and modern to the show. Yasmin’s hair frames her face perfectly for the high neckline. The jacket presents a more overwhelming silhouette which a lot of people could easily become drowned in. When worn by Yasmin, styled with a tight collar and cinched waist, the look comes alive and is topped off with black-out sunglasses, black boots, and a muted-brown handbag. Overall, the various textures, movements, and draping fabrics allowed for each model to find the right outfit that showcased their features in the most flattering way. DM casting continues to offer a space where well known models can receive their respect and upcoming models can finally accept their flowers.
Ludovic de Saint Sern DM casting works with Ludovic de Saint Sern for his debut show! The FW 24 collection goes through complete sheer and leather looks that push the boundaries of gender within fashion. The collection takes on a androgynous look that offers incredible diversity within the cast. Ludovic’s vision was to dress people of all genders in androgynous clothing and within the collection was able to pay homage to the photographer he collaborated with, Robert Mapplethorpe, by placing floral accents that you see throughout the collection. The show begins in the setting of light and innocence. The clothing is very sheer with delicate movement giving the appearance of light and purity. To illustrate, Indiana Van’t Slot was dressed in a sheer cream shirt with pearl colored flowers embroidered on the side, the top matched with cream trousers. However, as the show progresses the looks emit darker tones. Particularly seen in models such as Vika Evseeva, who was dressed in a dark cherry, sequin dress. She looked stunning in the mermaid style-fit with silver floral detailing and the sweetheart necklace creates beautiful lines at the top of the dress. We can see Ludovic embracing the genderless expression of his show by models like Hejia Li who was dressed in a pinstripe, wrap-style dress. The pinstripe appears to be in reference to the pinstripe of mens suits. The show continues the runway is graced with complete leather looks. Braien Vaiksaar was dressed in a black, leather corset with halter-like straps. The top was paired with loose fitting leather pants that added movement to the look. Ludovic takes a shocking twist to the outfit when Vaiksaar is accompanied with a Ruslan Baginskiy leather helmet that laced in front of his face. The models each were able to compliment their outfits and allowed for you to truly enjoy the clothing rather than decide if it was masculine or feminine.
