Viktor & Rolf’s Bonbon universe has continued to exist in the world of fantasy, couture, and visual storytelling. For the house’s celebrated Bonbon project, set designer Stefan Beckman helped bring that vision to life and immerse it into a world where fragrance, fashion, and art merge as one. His work elevated the presentation beyond a traditional campaign because he created a stage that reflected the whimsical yet highly crafted identity that has defined Viktor & Rolf.
Beckman is known for his ability to translate brand identity into unforgettable visual experiences due to the meticulous attention to detail that has made him one of fashion’s more iconic and creative collaborators. The Bonbon idea itself draws from Viktor & Rolfs fascination with bows, ribbons, and the relationship between the physical body and adornment, themes that have always appeared throughout the houses couture products.
The environment Beckman created allowed for the perfect framework for these ideas to come to life. He didn’t want to compete with the collections romantic visual language, instead he wanted to enhance it by creating a dreamlike backdrop that emphasized scale, texture, and theatricality. He made the space feel playful and luxurious which showcased sophistication and imagination that defines Viktor and Rolf.
Throughout Beckman’s career he has consistently demonstrated his unique ability to create worlds that support and enhance a creative vision. His talent is on full display in Bonbon and every element is meticulously designed to fit the story providing the imagery to feel immersive instead of decorative. He transformed Bonbon into more of a fragrance or collection. This shows set design is essential in bringing the brand’s story to life.
