The four filmmakers featured in ‘The Director’s Cut’ embody the sophisticated elegance of Anthony Vaccarello’s timeless black designs for Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2023 Collection. Cast by Samuel Ellis Scheinman and captured by David Sims in striking black-and-white videos and portraits, Jim Jarmusch, David Cronenberg, Abel Ferrara, and Pedro Almodóvar celebrate the intersection of cinema and style.
American Director Jim Jarmusch, known for his films Stranger Than Paradise, Coffee and Cigarettes, and Only Lovers Left Alive, wears his signature feathered hairstyle and wraparound sunglasses as he models a double-breasted camel hair jacket from the line. Canadian Filmmaker David Cronenberg, known for Videodrome, The Fly, Crash, and his newest release, Crimes of the Future, stands tall in his Saint Laurent ensemble: a classic black double-breasted coat over a crewneck sweater and white dress shirt. American Filmmaker Abel Ferrara, known for King of New York, Bad Lieutenant, and The Funeral, models expressively for the campaign. Finally, Spanish Director Pedro Almodóvar, known for Volver and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, charms in his butterfly-shaped sunglasses, sophisticated black turtleneck, and black tuxedo jacket.
Much to chic cinephiles’ delight, film and fashion come together masterfully in this campaign to promote Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2023.
