Piergiorgio Del Moro cast the Ralph Lauren Spring 2023 Ready-to-Wear Show at the gilded Huntington Library in Los Angeles. Wanderlust was the driving force behind the collection; the combined “ruggedness and casualness and elegance” of the West Coast fascinated Lauren. He departed his home of New York in favor of somewhere more outdoorsy and free, designing his Spring 2023 collection to be similarly colorful and at-ease.
Lauren described California in terms of its contradictions: “rugged coasts and red carpets, a mix of grit and glamor.” It’s what inspired him to design this collection as simultaneously casual and luxurious, and to include such a wide range of styles. His goal was to tell more than one story– the runway had a mix of price points, genders, and ages. “It’s timeless,” said Lauren, “that’s the statement of the show.”
