For the Fall 2024 collection, Bode traveled through the centuries in American sportswear and George Cortina brought history to life. In Bode’s first brand collaboration, there was a focus on American sports and its impact on society. The collection re-releases the popular Nike Astro Grabbers have not been released again since its original introduction in the 1960s. This long-awaited collaboration is meant to acknowledge and celebrate the past of athleticwear. George Cortina’s take on the collection adds a sense of innovation to the clothes. The looks constructed create an elevated athletic look and blur the line between athletic comfort and fashion. He does an impressive job taking clothes of the past and transforming them into a look that can be appreciated in a more modern time while simultaneously offering some nostalgia in clothes like the scrimmage pinnies. There is a deep connection that America has to sports and their athletes. This collection reminds us of the importance that sports has on this country and the clothes offer a new fashionable way to be comfortable and in motion. Adams Bode Aujla mentions the foundation of Nike drew her to this collaboration as it reminded her of Bode. Through this campaign, both brands were able to maintain their styles while George Cortina translated the looks in a way that advanced the sportswear. From the design to the styling, this is a perfect example of how fashion can be used as an art form for acknowledgment and celebration but also for innovation and change.
