Max Mara marked its 75th anniversary with a striking Resort 2027 presentation in Shanghai. Which brought the iconic Italian houses elegance to one of the world’s most energetic cities. With the help of DM Casting, this event took place at the Long Museum overlooking the unique skyline of the West Bund, the collection reflected creative director Ian Griffiths vision of Max Mara as a brand founded on modern urban life and designed for women who consistently engage with the world that surrounds them.
The collection did a wonderful job balancing heritage and innovation, bringing Max Mara’s classic signatures into a modern context. Max Mara’s iconic tailoring was showcased in relaxed silhouettes, with impeccably crafted outerwear, structured separates, and fluid dresses that reinforced the brand’s reputation for timeless sophistication. Griffiths drew inspiration from Bauhaus design principles and Shanghai’s exclusive mix of tradition and modernity which results in graphic patterns, bold color-blocking, and clean architectural lines throughout the show. Chinese influences were entwined into the collection through details such as traditional pankou knot fastenings, obi-style belts, and subtle references to classic silhouettes, which created a unique blend between Italian design and Chinese culture.
The runway itself emphasized movement, confidence, and versatility. Sequined trenches, sharp suiting, elegant knitwear, and refined outerwear showcased the broadness of the collection while also remaining undeniably Max Mara. This collection was designed for a woman that is polished, practical, and most importantly powerful without having to sacrifice their femininity.
