The show opened with a barefoot boy dressed in white running the full length of the Orangerie at Versailles, a tender embodiment of Simon as a child. He heaved open a heavy wooden door, as if unlocking the designer’s past to let it flood the runway. What followed was a heartfelt tribute to his family: cottons, linens, and delicate embroidery evoking the workwear of rural matriarchs. The collection also featured intricately crafted accessories turned produce (garlic, cherries, leeks, rosemary) into fashion statements. But within the humility of these references lay a new level of elegance for Jacquemus. “This is a big thank you to my family,” Simon said before the show. At just 35, with an established global presence and a bright future ahead of him, he reminded the world that no matter where he goes, his roots will always ground and guide him.
