    STACY'S PICKS: Carroll Gardens Greenmarket

    One of my favorite Sunday rituals is going to the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket, located on the corner of Carroll Street and Smith Street, across from Carroll Park. The whole market is only 15 stands, but there are a few that are not to be missed!

    I first learned about one of the vendors, Lani's Farm (pictured above), from Sharon Patcher, one of the owners of The Grocery Restaurant. I was there for dinner a few years ago and ordered a cucumber salad that was made from the most delicious cucumbers I have ever had! I asked Sharon about them, and she explained that she gets them from Lani’s Farm, and that they are only in season for a short time. And so began my Sunday ritual…

    These burpless (!) cucumbers are in season and at the market now, but you must get there early, they sell out quickly! Another fav item is the over wintered broccoli rabe, which is really sweet and delicious. I have been making it a couple of times a week— get it while you can, they will only have it in for 2 more weeks.

    Another one of my favorites there is Seatuck Fish Company. Their motto is, “fresh never frozen.” Their sea scallops are some of the best I have ever tasted. They are so fresh that my husband and I eat them raw with a little sea salt and olive oil.

    And it’s always worth stopping at Bardwell Farm Cheese. Their handmade goat cheese is fantastic!

    This is just a small sampling of what is there—go there and take a walk around. I would love to hear what you think.
